Oscar-winning actress Lady Gaga was spotted twice last week sporting looks by Emirati designer Ahmed Khyeli, founder of KHYELI. Only a few days after wearing the label for the first time on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Gaga wore the brand out and about in LA. She also posted the all-black KHYELI ensemble on Instagram to celebrate her and Bradley Cooper’s song “Shallow” reaching number one on the Hot 100 list.
I can’t believe Shallow is #1 on the Hot 100, and the soundtrack is #1 as well. This is my first #1 song in 8 years, and it feels like Just Dance going number one all over again. Rule #1: Never give up. Rule #2: Always listen to rule #1. Thank you so much to all our beautiful fans. You make my dreams come true. #Shallow #AStarIsBorn: FIA Pictures
In the post, Gaga shared her thanks to her fans and some words of encouragement for anyone in achieving their dreams: “Rule #1: Never give up. Rule #2: Always listen to rule #1. Thank you so much to all our beautiful fans. You make my dreams come true.”
Speaking of making your dreams come true, the Emirati designer behind the look is home-grown, receiving an education at the American University of Sharjah for architecture (which has heavily influenced his pieces in terms of structure and form), before he joined the global fashion scene. Despite just being a few years deep into his career, he's already making waves - and Gaga is officially a fan.
In her most recent outfit from KHYELI, she’s spotted officially bringing shoulder pads back into the game, as she draped his standout black coat from the spring/summer 2019 collection over a LBD designed by Ingorokva. Gaga topped it off with yellow eyeshadow, statement earrings from Fallon Jewellery, Black ‘Anja’ pumps from YSL and her own Celine leather bag.
On the Jimmy Kimmel show, it was Gaga’s beaded and embellished black bodice with sheer lace overlay that took centre stage during the interview. She added a grunge edge to the Ahmed Khyeli look by pairing it with a black Givenchy bag and lace-up Guiseppe Zanotti boots.
Seeing regional talent get international recognition gives us all the feels. Especially on the likes of Lady Gaga.
