They are known for their whimsical designs where attention to detail is everything, so it comes as no surprise that luxury brand Rodarte will be the centre of an exhibition come Fall 2018. Set to be held at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington D.C. not only will it conclude the celebrations for the museums 30th anniversary, but will also be the first exposition that focuses solely on fashion.
Founded by sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy back in 2005 in Los Angeles, the brand which has been dubbed both conceptual and groundbreaking is no stranger to the limelight. Having won countless awards throughout the years and having collaborated on various projects in the art world this next step will have fashion fans booking their tickets to D.C. already.
Speaking to WWD Director if the NMWA, Susan Fisher Sterling explained, “They work a lot like artists in the sense that they’re almost artisanal in the way they produce their work; they somewhat go against the grain of having a really huge schedule of shows.” We’re expecting great things.
