It went from bad, to worse for Stefano Gabbana yesterday as the designer proudly posted a sketch of a shoe from their A/W17 line on Instagram and was promptly met with a wave of hate from customers, followers and fans of the brand.
The shoes in question are adorned with studs, sequins and quirky messages scribbled in marker and pen. One of those messages reads, "I'M THIN & GORGEOUS," in all caps—something that commenters were quick to point out as an issue with the Italian designer. Comments included: "You don't think it's a little unresponsible [sic] to push a message of 'Thin and gorgeous'? I hope this will be followed by a message of inclusion of all bodies?" @anna.elisabeth.olsson wrote. Another commenter, @rossy_rl added, "thin?! I'm disappointed!"
Gabbana clapped back with strong retorts of his own, commenting: "u think is better to be fat full of hamburger??? Stupid," and another from the designer read, "darling you prefer to be fat and full of cholesterol??? I think u have a problem. "The label has yet to respond but Stefano quickly moved on to posting videos from his workout routine on the same page, possibly trying to silence the haters.
