The Fashion Halloween Costumes To Channel For 2019

Each year, dressing for Halloween presents a whole new list of challenges, especially if you're trying to think of a fashionable moment to make your own.

Sure, you could channel an iconic film or TV character—like Martha Hunt, who went to Halloween 2018 as Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman—or an iconic real-life person, like Kim Kardashian's spot-on impression of Pamela Anderson in 2018.

If you love fashion, however, there's a whole new guard of Halloween outfits to consider, especially ones based on the major fashion events of 2019.

From Chanel's infamous runway crasher to Margot Robbie's iconic '60s outfits in Once Upon a Time In Hollywood (Chanel 2.55 handbag not included), 2019 involved a plethora of fashion moments that were simply begging to replicated for Halloween.

If you're still stuck for a Halloween costume, scroll down for our picks based on major fashion moments of 2019, and how you can embody them on your own terms.

1. The runway crasher at Chanel spring/summer '20

Chanel spring/summer '20 was one of the most anticipated shows of the season, but became notorious after French YouTuber Marie Benoliel crashed the show and walked the runway (only to be briskly escorted off by Gigi Hadid). While Benoliel's stunt was unexpected, it's made her a major player for anyone seeking a fashion-inspired Halloween costume this year.

2. Jennifer Lopez at Versace spring/summer '20

In 2000, Jennifer Lopez wore a scandalous Versace gown that led to the creation of Google Images, and in 2019, she replicated the moment in a similar ensemble at Versace's spring/summer '20 show. This year, plenty of partygoers will try to embody the iconic dress for Halloween—and if you like daring fashion, you should too.

3. Margot Robbie in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Despite only appearing in a small portion of the film, Margot Robbie's role as Sharon Tate in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood has already become one of her most legendary roles. Robbie effortless channelled Tate's streamlined style, with this typically '60s number (pictured) being immortalised in the film's promotional stills.

4. Lady Gaga at the 2019 Met Gala

As a co-chair of 2019's 'Camp'-themed Met Gala, Lady Gaga had every reason to deliver, and her four-tiered Brandon Maxwell ensemble didn't disappoint. Arguably the most iconic part of the look was when Gaga stripped down to a hot-pink silk dress, and whipped out a giant mobile phone for a peak-1990s effect.

5. Kendall Jenner at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival

The Cannes Film Festival is always chock-filled with major fashion moments, and one of 2019's most noteworthy was worn by Kendall Jenner. At the festival, the model donned a stunning tulle gown by Giambattista Valli for H&M, and resembled a piece of high-fashion fairy floss. If you're dedicated to the look, it's still available on eBay, and a handful of similar generic styles are currently available from different retailers online for a much lower cost.
