The Ones To Watch: What To Do, See and Shop This July-August 2022
Size-inclusive soles, a new homeware haunt and a holistic hangout join a 1970s design hero on our highlight reel this month
Quilty Pleasures
The homely American patchwork quilt has unexpectedly become the inspiration for our summer jacket. Pieced together with sunshine-yellow denim and floral panels, Isabel Marant’s take on the trend is as joyous as it is practical.

Norma Forever
Wowing us since the 1970s, American-born Norma Kamali and her timeless namesake brand have been churning out classics since day one. Case in point: the Diana dress. Named after Diana Ross, this piece was designed at the start of her career yet is just as relevant today and is flying off the rails after SJP wore it in And Just Like That… “People think [the pieces] are brand new,” says Norma. “The women who are interested in wearing them now are the same age as the women who were wearing them in the ’70s.” With a flair for knocking out flattering stretch flared trousers, jumpsuits and dresses that not only suit all women but are reasonably priced to boot, this is a designer worth investing in.

The Holistic House
Jumeirah seems to witness the opening of a new dental/aesthetics/ hair salon every five minutes. But there’s nothing quite like Paus. The two-storey villa dreamt up by sisters Sophiya and Sarah Faizal is home to reiki treatments, a cafe, a meditation room, a movement studio, plus a community space in which to, well, pause…

Size-Inclusive Soles
There’s been a lot of noise in the past five years surrounding inclusive dress sizing in the luxury market. However, it’s felt like no one considered the poor souls whose feet go beyond the standard size 41. But not Alfredo Piferi. He’s ensured his fabulous vegan shoe collection goes all the way up to a generous size 45.

Decor Delights
This new concept store has gathered together cool, sustainable collectibles from around the world and brought them to the UAE. Expect names like La Milanesa, Lisa Corti, Ceramics Pinto and Gorky Gonzales.
