The Ones To Watch: What To Do, See and Shop This May 2024
From world-first lingerie by Loro Piana to sure-to-sell out spritz by Celine, it’s time to start your May to-buy list stat
Set The Table
With Gio Ponti, Andy Warhol and Yves Saint Laurent as muses, the eclectic designs from the house of Jonathan Adler never disappoints. Keep your eyes peeled for this Monterey Floating side table. A mid-century marvel with a touch of Italian flair, this is the perfect home for all of your bedside trinkets and tales.

Feeling Blue
In a noticeable departure from the glaring colour trends of seasons past, the SS24 runways saw designers opt for a more muted palette with a particular emphasis on icy blue. Closet mileage is guaranteed with this powdery hue given that it can be just as easily injected with plenty of pantones… Our May must-have is this Billie lacquered leather coat from Proenza Schouler. Throw it over everything from dresses to jeans when the sun goes down.

What Lies Beneath
The thought of Loro Piana conjures a vision of sumptuous, soft fabrics. Pair that with undergarments and we get the limited edition capsule drop we didn’t know we needed. The storied Italian brand has just launched its first ever lingerie collection made of the finest refined summer twill. Interwoven with a hint of aloe vera, each piece has been designed to evoke a feeling of luxury from the inside out.

Teen Spirit
With notes of patchouli, vanilla and musk, Zouzou will be gracing boutiques this May, so take note as Celine scents have a habit of selling out. “I wished to create a perfume capturing an ideal of eternal youth,” recalls Hedi Slimane. “The recklessness of the young French writer FranÇoise Sagan, the ingénue boyishness of Jean Seberg filmed by Jean Luc Godard, the magnificent heroines of the velvet underground…” And the moniker? “An affectionate nickname that appeared in the last century to describe a young woman with short hair.”

Open Season
We have found yet another reason to fly to Fashion Avenue at Dubai Mall. The newly opened Jacquemus boutique is as cool as their clothes (and accessories) and is the first-ever permanent boutique in the Middle East. The sparse space has chic, muted interiors with French artwork and décor to allow the SS24 collection of Le Chiquito’s to shine bright.
