An icon’s memoir, stellar beauty services, the die-hard sequin and more this March

Write Me A Letter

Font nerds lit up the message boards recently after Burberry unveiled a new “archive-inspired” logo. Ditching the clean font that was revealed in 2018, chief creative officer Daniel Lee introduced a rather elegant serif font alongside a clutch of new ambassadors including actress Vanessa Redgrave, footballer Raheem Sterling and rapper Skepta. Let’s see if the new font is a style precursor to Lee’s collections.

She’s Back

It’s the comeback of the year. Actually, make that the comeback of the decade. Idolised British designer Phoebe Philo stopped the fashion world dead in its tracks with news that she will debut her first collection for her signature brand on the new phoebephilo.com website in September. We hope her IT department has built a website that can take a lot of traffic.

All About Babs

After decades of tinkering on her typewriter, music and movie icon Barbra Streisand has announced she has finally finished her long-awaited memoir. Pre-orders are already open for the book, which is due to be published in November, and is, quite understandably, expected to smash records for a celebrity autobiography. The title of this mighty memoir? My Name is Barbra.

Going Out-Out

Sequin suppliers around the world are reportedly being inundated with orders as the trend for dressing up rockets skywards. According to retail research, sales of occasionwear – think Amina Muaddi shoes and Coperni dresses decked out in glitz – are massively up on recent years. Off the back of the pandemic, the rise in dressing up was seen as escapism but even two years on, brands are still flooding the runways with exuberant pieces, meaning there is no slowing down for the going out-out crowd.

Pioneering treatments and VIP customer service have helped Sarah Battikha establish a stellar reputation in the beauty world. The skincare entrepreneur has now opened a new dermatology clinic in Jumeirah 1 that uses the latest technology to provide microneedling, bacials, laser hair removal, mesotherapy, facial peels and more. “Attention to detail and a truly personalised service is of utmost importance to me,” says the talented Sarah.
