There’s no better place to celebrate the inspiring women in the film industry than at the famed Hotel du Cap Eden Roc in Cap d’Antibes. Nestled in the foothills of the French Riviera, the Red Sea Film Festival, which aims to establish a partnership between Saudi and international film industries, hosted a gala titled ‘In Celebration of Women in Cinema during the 75^th Cannes International Film Festival.

In December 2021, The Red Sea Film Festival held its inaugural event that showcased 136 films, out of which 38% were by female directors. To follow its success, a similar trend was visible at this year’s prestigious event.

CEO of The Red Sea International Film Festival, Mohammed Al Turki, mentions, “This is an opportunity for the Red Sea International Film Festival to honour the female talents participating in this year’s Cannes Film Festival. We are committed to supporting and raising the bar for the emergence of new and exciting voices from the Arab world through the Red Sea Festival so that they can influence audiences and critics alike around the world.”

The prestigious event welcomed several regional and international A-listers like rising Saudi actresses Fatima Al-Banawi, Mila Al Zahrani, Ahd Kamel, and fashion designer Honayda Al Serafi. And that’s not all; other famous personalities like Yasmine Sabri, Naomi Campbell, Alessandra Ambrosio, Sara Sampaio and Tara Emad graced the red carpet wearing stunning show-stopping ensembles.
