Surprising!

After eight-odd years as part of the royal family, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has effectively nailed the royal style brief.

Swinging from sporting events, to formal engagements, to the odd diplomatic reception hosted in a castle dripping in diamonds, the mother-of-three has navigated every dress code she's faced with aplomb. That includes colours, too.

Whether it's all-black ensembles for memorial services, bright jewel tones to stand out at crowded events, or even dusky pinks and purples at christenings and weddings, Kate has worn nearly every single shade of every single colour… nearly.

But, within wardrobes filled to the brim with coat-dresses in every shade imaginable, there is one colour Kate has never worn in all her years of royal life: orange.

Despite coming close just once in a pinkish peach ensemble, Kate has steered clear of orange in all forms—light, dark or in-between.

Perhaps it's personal preference, or perhaps she just hasn't found the orange look to tempt her properly, but one thing is clear—the colour hasn't gotten its duchess-seal of approval just yet.

Every other colour, however, is firmly in the good books. Here, a comprehensive guide to Kate Middleton painting with all the colours in the box.
