Alia Bhatt’s 23-Foot -Long Train
The Bollywood star wowed the crowd when she arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a custom Sabyasachi creation. Images of her intricate floral saree quickly began circulating online – but one major design detail was seemingly missing from most pictures and videos. Hand-embroidered with silk floss, glass beading, and gemstones, the elaborate train cascaded down the Met Gala steps, even needing to be lifted by red carpet assistants as the actress made her way inside the function.
Tyla’s Impromptu Dress Alteration
Making her Met Gala debut, the South African songstress looked gorgeous in a dress inspired by the sands of time. Created by Balmain, the floor-length creation transformed Tyla into regal sand sculpture emerging from the ground. However, when it came time to head inside the party, creative director Olivier Rousteing quickly whipped out a pair of scissors to cut off the entire bottom half of the dress – giving the Water hitmaker the freedom to move and dance freely without the assistance of her sizable entourage. In true Balmain craftsmanship, the altered mini dress was still a couture masterpiece.
On a side note: we still not over her hourglass handbag that was filled with actual grains of sand.
Camilla Cabello Carrying A Block Of Ice
Camilla Cabello dazzled on the Met Gala red carpet in a metallic silver number by Ludovic de Saint Sernin. To finish off her look, the Shameless songstress accessorised with a dripping block of ice.
The custom Jade Wade handbag was fashioned out of actual ice, and featured a gold strap and copper rose inside, which was reminiscent of the one on the Met Gala invitation itself.
Doja Cat Wrapped In A Towel
Before stepping onto the red carpet in her wet-look T-shirt dress, the American rapper made a statement in nothing but a towel, matching head turban and a pair of heels. Walking out of The Mark Hotel while heading to the museum, Doja Cat wore a towel dress custom designed by Vetements. The dress wrapped around her torso while she held it together with her hands. Her straight-out-the-shower look was teamed with dramatic eye make-up that gave the effect of water streaming down her face.
