Boghossian To Exhibit Its Finest Jewellery Pieces At Art Dubai
The house will display its most coveted creations in a special installation that promises to impress jewellery aficionados from near and far…
There are few things that capture the imagination quite like high jewellery; and only a handful of high houses with a heritage as rich as Boghossian. The Swiss jewellery house was established in 1868 on the Silk Road and has since been kept within the family.

The house has thrived under their nurturing spirit and is now a treasure trove of some of the world’s most valuable pieces; today it boasts two locations: one is their flagship store on Geneva’s famous Rue du Rhône, the other on Old Bond Street in London.

Under the leadership of CEO Albert Boghossian and the creative direction of Edmond Chin, Boghossian is hailed for the way in which it is able to take extremely delicate gemstones and transform them into intricate, complex, and artistic masterpieces through the use of cutting-edge techniques.

For the first time, the house’s finest pieces will be on display at Art Dubai. As Roberto Boghossian, the Managing Partner, says, “[It was] a natural evolution to come here as we work a lot with the region.” The theme of the exhibition is the dialogue between cultures, attesting to the roots of the house – having been founded along the world’s most historic trade route. The jewels are displayed in a cabinet of curiosities, decorated with luxurious lacquered furniture and enclosed by tiny strings of silk. The linkage between East and West is reflected even in the nationalities of the artists that designed the installation; the silk cords were crafted by Danish, Kufstudios, and the furniture was created by Lebanese designer, Nada Debs.

Each piece in the expertly curated exhibit speaks to the narrative of cultural interconnection. A Burmese sapphire and moonstone ring (weighing an incredulous 4.72 carats) glistens next to a Ceylon sapphire bangle, barring a diamond motif inspired by marble panels seen in the Taj Mahal. All of the house’s signature collections are featured, including their notable ‘Kissing’ line, with a diamond and tourmaline necklace/ring set from their Coral Reef collection, which pays tribute to the bodies of water that connected the Silk Road once upon a time.

Roberto takes a moment to show us their newest piece, a mesh necklace festooned with precious gems like sapphires and emeralds. He vividly describes it for us, “it feels like a cloth in your hand, with the stones having been sewn together.” The poetic way in which he speaks about the creations only adds to their artistic virtue.

Art Dubai visitors and prospective buyers are invited to step into the cabinet and marvel at the spectacle that is the jewellery – which appears to be floating, like twinkling fairy dust – just as one would admire a sculpture.
