A Slice Of Paradise: Discover Boghossian’s Palace Voyages High Jewellery Collection

Boghossian’s new high jewellery collection is an ode to the world’s most opulent palaces, played out in glittering diamonds and precious gems

Traversing the globe from East to West, Boghossian’s Palace Voyages high jewellery collection is a glittering tribute to some of the finest palaces on earth. Weaving its way from Beijing’s Qianlong Palace to England’s Brighton Pavilion, it is impossible not to pause to admire the splendour of the Seven Realms necklace, inspired by the Moorish Alhambra palace in Granada, Spain. The most celebrated example of Islamic art and architecture in Europe, the geometric ceiling in its Hall of Ambassadors is said to represent seven heavens on the quest to paradise – played out here in a flurry of the finest white and yellow diamonds.

Another piece dedicated to the Alhambra’s artful architecture is the ‘Midnight Blue’ set. This opulent suite features deep blue tanzanites that emulate the palace’s backdrop when viewed from the Albaicin hill, as it is engulfed by the velvety night sky. Carved pink opal details evoke the palace’s muqarnas, a type of intricate ceiling vaulting that is a calling card of illustrious Islamic architecture.

Journeying onwards to Morocco, the Bahia palace in Marrakesh has inspired another extraordinarily ornate trio of treasures; the palace was commissioned in the late 19th century, and is renowned as one of the most elaborate examples of Moroccan craftsmanship in existence. Vibrant rubellites take centre stage in the ‘Mosaic Heaven’ suite, inspired by the wooden fretwork in the palace’s courtyard and complemented by intricate latticework details. Jadeite, pink opal, turquoise, purple sapphires, yellow diamonds and spessartite garnets are expertly paired, creating a colourful kaleidoscope of precious gems.

The ‘Golestan’ suite was designed in tribute to Tehran’s Golestan Palace, constructed in the 16th century and often referred to as ‘the Palace of the Rose Garden’. The palace is celebrated for its Kadjar architecture, which became ever more extravagant over time – its ‘Hall of Mirrors’ required four years to complete due to its meticulous detailing. Boghossian has brought its rich tapestry to life in the ‘Mirror Maze’ set, which imitates its stained glass panelling with an elegant arrangement of rubies, emeralds, turquoise, sapphires, and yellow diamonds.

Meanwhile, a sensational diamond and emerald suite serves as an ode to the city of Amarna, Egypt. The Amarna Palace, constructed by pharaoh Akhenaton in the 14th century BC for his wife Nefertiti, featured a ‘green room’ embellished with geometric papyrus motifs. Its extravagance has inspired the Queen’s Papyrus set, which showcases sumptuous diamonds, emeralds, and jadeite, capturing the stylistic transition that took place during the Amarna period.

In total, the Palace Voyages collection features more than 30 sublime creations, each testament to the many palatial wonders of the world – simply choose where to start your adventure.
