As any seasoned traveller knows, when embarking on a journey it’s important to be prepared and carry the right kit – and if that kit happens to look beautiful, then so much the better.
With its two new Navitimer timepieces, Breitling have ensured travellers will enjoy life on the road with a watch that provides both panache and peace of mind. New, smaller models with colourful dials bring a fresh flair to the iconic Navitimer family.
Recently launched with a grand reveal on the side of Dubai’s Burj Khalifa – the tallest building in the world – and across all 82 screens of Riyadh Boulevard in Saudi Arabia, these new Navitimers continue the legacy of a watch that began its extraordinary journey in 1952.
The 36mm piece comes in three metallic dial colours: mint green, anthracite and silver or a white mother-of-pearl dial with the famous beaded bezel and circular slide rule used by pilots. The beaded bezel also appears on the 32mm watches – that come with dials in light blue, powdery pink or classic white – but lack the slide rule for a cleaner appearance.
Integrity of materials has been guaranteed by Breitling with round-cut ‘better diamonds’ that are lab-grown and traceable to accredited producers. Similarly, the full-gold version and gold bezel on the duo-tone watch are crafted in ‘better gold’ that meet the Swiss Better Gold Association’s criteria for social and environmental impact.
Award-winning actor Charlize Theron is a member of Breitling’s Navitimer Squad and feels an affinity with the watch that is all about seeing new horizons.
“My journey has always been about being up for any challenge,” she says. “I travelled from South Africa to Los Angeles when I was quite young and the journey of being open-minded and ready for new experiences has served me well personally and professionally.”
