Serpenti in Dubai: The Bulgari Classic Snakes Up The Burj Khalifa

A new CGI video shows one of the Roman jeweller’s most iconic motifs exploring the city in the lead up to a very special exhibition….

It all started back in the 1940s. Bulgari’s Serpenti collection was first introduced in 1948 with a timepiece that could easily wrap around the wrist, eventually evolving into a storied legacy. Representing wisdom, vitality, and seduction with its snake-like motifs, the line evolved throughout the decades, becoming a favourite of jewellery aficionados like Elizabeth Taylor and Sophia Loren.

In honour of its 75th anniversary this year, the brand will be hosting the Serpenti Factory exhibition in Dubai, on from September 15 – 24 in DIFC.

To announce the exhibition the brand partnered with Visit Dubai to unveil a CGI video of Serpenti’s grand arrival to town. From seamlessly gliding past the Burj al Arab to snaking up the Dubai Frame, she’s made quite the entrance.

What is the Serpenti Factory exhibition?

The exhibition, which was first unveiled earlier this year in China at Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai, highlights the rich history of the iconic motif and its influence on the collection throughout the past 75 years. Artists and craftsmen of all trades are invited to be inspired by the imagery of the snake; the project includes a series of unique collaborations between Bulgari and international contemporary artists such as Davide Quayola, Daniel Rozin, Sougwen Chung, and Cate M Mercier.

“For 75 years Bulgari has shown its audacious creativity, ingenious craftsmanship, and modern spirit through its emblematic Serpenti creations inspired by the jewels of Cleopatra, in a Rome of more than 2000 years ago,” says Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of the Bulgari Group.

“They convey endless tales, artistry, and empowerment. It expanded the boundaries of jewellery, reflecting the spirit of confident women and entering the world of art through exciting creative collaborations. It was and is the ultimate Bulgari icon of endless metamorphosis.”
