Bvlgari Announces Mary Katrantzou As Creative Director of Leather Goods and Accessories

The designer’s new role at the Roman High Jeweller is the first of its kind in the brand’s 140 year history

A new chapter in Bvlgari’s legacy was revealed yesterday as Mary Katrantzou was announced as the house’s first Creative Director of Leather Goods and Accessories.

The Greek fashion designer has collaborated with the luxury house in the past, having unveiled a collection of handbags and accessories back in 2021, so on-boarding her as the first creative direction of the division is a natural choice.

An assembly of bespoke bags with printed-silk scarves paired with a consistent call back to the timeless Serpenti motif of the jewellery brand, the collection brought together the maximalist realm of Mary’s designs with Bvlgari’s world of delicate cuts and colours.

The London-based designer is a fashion powerhouse in her own field and will continue to take on her new role in the Bvlgari family alongside her position as the creative director with her eponymous brand.

“The rich cultural heritage and dual Greco-Roman roots of Bvlgari have played an integral part in my formation as a designer,” Mary shared in an Instagram post yesterday. “I’ve always been inspired by the design codes and syncretism of Bvlgari, its mastery of colours and depth of narrative.”

Mary’s debut collection as the brand’s Creative Director of Leather Goods and Accessories will be available at Bvlgari’s boutiques globally from August 2024.
