Chanel Makes Wired Headphones Cool Again With The Première Sound Watch
The Première Sound Watch sautoir hits boutiques on September 2…
For the woman who has everything, Chanel has unveiled the ultimate accessory that marries horology with technology—the Première Sound Watch necklace. Launching in boutiques on September 2, the cult timepiece-cum-accessory allows its wearer to listen to music and podcasts or even make and receive calls, thanks to its built-in remote control and wired headphones emblazoned with the iconic double C logo.

The sautoir is the latest iteration of the maison’s Première watch—first released in 1987, the Première distilled many of the French brand’s most iconic elements into one chic timepiece; the case shape was inspired by the stopper of the No. 5 perfume bottle, while its chain echoes the shoulder strap of the brand’s most famous 2.55 handbag. Intended to capture a spirit of “audacity and freedom,” it has become one of the maison’s best-selling timepieces.
The new Première Sound watch, which was first unveiled in a digital campaign featuring actress and model Lily-Rose Depp, has a matte black audio cable woven within the steel and 18-karat gold chain, and a built-in 3.5mm headphone jack that enables it to be connected to an iPhone or Android smartphone. With just a 26mm steel case, coated in 18-karat yellow gold, the timepiece plays perfectly into the current trend for mini watches that make maximum impact.

The Première’s petite and punchy details are perfectly preserved—the black lacquered dial, onyx cabochon crown and high precision quartz movement are as stylish as ever. The watch is the latest in a series of timepieces to be worn anywhere but the wrist; both Rihanna and Taylor Swift have recently made headlines for wearing watches as anklets and chokers. Wireless ear buds beware – this is a seriously chic contender.
