Chopard at Cannes: The True Star Of The Festival…

From award ceremonies to gala dinners, the Swiss luxury jeweller continues to play patron to creativity, cause and cinema

It’s been a busy few days for Chopard at Cannes. Having been the official sponsor of the festival for twenty-five years, the Swiss luxury jeweller and watchmaker is continuing its legacy as the go-to house for a decadent dose of glamour, elegance and sparkle – both on the red carpet and after hours.

Throughout the past week and a half international celebrities, film industry insiders and creatives from around the world have repeatedly stepped out in spectacular high jewellery pieces, each one more brilliant than the last (Natalie Portman presenting the Trophée Chopard 2023 award to Naomi Ackie and Daryl McCormack in a breathtaking heart-shaped sapphire and white diamond necklace from the Red Carpet Collection comes to mind.)

Though there were many standing ovations at the premieres and plenty of fashion statements on the red carpet, Chopard truly was the star of the festival.

Here, Bazaar Arabia highlights three of the Swiss luxury jeweller and watchmaker’s most memorable moments from the 76th edition of the Festival du Cannes.

On The Red Carpet…

The prestigious Cannes Film Festival not only celebrates the best in cinema, but also serves as a platform for captivating fashion spectacles. This year, the red carpet featured several mesmerising looks — the most stunning of the bunch styled with Chopard jewellery.

Trophée Chopard

A patron of the 7th art, the luxury jeweller and watchmaker continued its promise to honour emerging talent in cinema by awarding Naomi Ackie and Daryl McCormack with this year’s Trophée Chopard. Presented to the actors on May 19th by “Godmother” Natalie Portman, the distinction is bestowed to two rising stars who show great potential within the arts.

“Chopard is a firm believer in perpetuating the artistic professions cultivated in our workshops as is evidenced by our focus on training,” says Caroline Scheufele, Co-President of Chopard. “It was therefore only natural to extend our concern for transmission to our commitment to cinema. The Trophée Chopard enables us to draw attention to an actress and an actor who deserve to gain recognition in their field so as to launch their career. Laureates of this distinction have consistently confirmed the hopes placed in them.”

amfAR Gala

One of the most prestigious events of the two-week film festival, the amfAR (the American Foundation to fight AIDS) gala raises awareness and funds for lifesaving programmes. Celebrities, creatives and patrons of the arts gathered at the Hôtel du Cap in Antibes.

Helena Christensen, Cindy Bruna and Ashley Graham were among a group of esteem guests who styled their looks with glittering Chopard pieces — fitting as the luxury brand has been the Signature Sponsor of the gala for a number of years.

Since 1985, amfAR has invested nearly $617 million in its programs and has awarded more than 3,500 grants to research teams worldwide,” Caroline notes. “We are proud to be part of supporting this worthy cause at an event which is looked forward to by all.”

During the event guests were treated to a surprise fashion show by Carine Roitfeld, featuring Chopard’s Haute Joaillerie collection.
