With the trendsetting shows for watches and jewellery over for another year, Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons presented key pieces from SIHH and Baselworld at an intimate luncheon at Elevate, Viceroy Palm Jumeirah, on Sunday. The standout pieces are now available throughout the retailer’s regional network of boutiques.

Ladies timepieces showcased at the presentation included the Luna model by De Grisogono, the Swiss brand’s latest jewellery watch addition. Available in 10 different colour combinations and inspired by Founder Mr Gruosi's own cigar case, the strap is made from galuchat – a type of rawhide usually from the skin of a shark or stingray. The case measures 40mm, with its feminine curves and gem-set inverted lug at 12 o’clock reflecting the shapes of the moon.

Audemar Piguet’s Royal Oak Frosted Gold watches were also on display, available in both rose and white gold. The model celebrates 40 years since the brand’s designer Jacqueline Dimier developed the men’s Royal Oak version for their female client base.

Italian jeweller Carolina Bucci worked with Audemars Piguet to develop the “Florentine Finish”, adapted from an ancient gold hammering technique where the watch’s surface is hand beaten with a diamond-tipped tool. These tiny indentations create a final shimmering effect, with each model completely unique due to the random marks created by the hammering process.

Embracing the technical side of watchmaking for women are Richard Mille’s latest models, the RM 07-01 and RM 037. These timepieces feature the signature NTPT carbon used in their men’s watches, adapted for the female market by pavé-setting as many as 250 diamonds into the case. The combination of matt carbon with the sparkle of these gems adds a glamorous twist to the contoured elegance of the timepieces.
