Villa Corsi Salviati: The Artisanal Inspirations Behind FerriFirenze’s Jewellery

Since its beginning, in 1503, when the Marquis Jacopo Corsi acquired the Villa, there has been a succession of architectural and artistic renovations in order to make it increasingly beautiful and prestigious throughout Florence. Architects, sculptors, artists and musicians have crossed the main entrance of the Villa for four centuries, invited by the Corsi Salviati Family to create amazing sculptures, frescoes and fountains, turning the place into a magnificent open-air museum. It is truly a unique location where FerriFirenze has chosen to establish its production, its beating heart, where designers and artisans work everyday inspired by the love for Art and Beauty that has characterized the raison d’etre of the Villa for centuries and that FerriFirenze is proud to carry on with its unique creations.

The Villa itself is a treasure, a jewel, that FerriFirenze gladly showcases to its most loyal customers, so they as well can enjoy its splendor. In order to preserve centuries of glorious history, FerriFirenze actively contributes to the restoration and maintenance of the Villa, ensuring a future worthy of this magical place.

SATIR created by Pietro Bernini. The original is located at the most renowned and prestigious sculpture museum in Europe – in Berlin, Germany. This sculpture was sold by a Florentine merchant, Stefano Bardini, to Whilem Bode, an internationally renowned German art historian. The exquisite sculpture is crafted with Carrara marble and is modelled after the world renowned “Laocoön” statue.

Greenery-Inspired Collections

The legendary sculptor Girolamo Ticciati masterfully crafted 18 nature-inspired sculptures dispersed around the atelier. In fact, Marquis Bardo Corsi transformed the Villa Corsi Salviati into a plant library from 1844 to 1907 – attesting to the House’s undying love for nature which lives on in the atelier and, by extension, within each of FerriFerrenzi’s creations today.

The House’s divine Solegira collection, honouring the ethereal nature in which the Villa Corsi Salviati is engulfed, features a luxurious array of bracelets, earrings, pendants, and rings and is directly inspired by one of the Tuscan countryside’s most exquisite natural gems: the Sunflower.

Walking through the frescoed rooms and strolling among the water lilies and palms of the garden, surrounded by the numerous sculptures created by Girolamo Ticciati, it feels like reliving that glorious moment – between 1844 and 1907 –  when the Villa was transformed into an encyclopedia of plants and flowers by the Marquis Bardo Corsi. The delicate scent of the Florentine Rose, created in this very garden, fills the air throughout the visit. We see one of the most famous palm specimens towering along with many other exotic species that grew here centuries ago, thanks to the innovative passion of the Marquis. Fragrances, colors and shapes provided by nature are still present today, in a garden that is a living source of inspiration for the collections of FerriFirenze.

Water-Inspired Collections

Water, another natural element, is an integral part of FerriFirenze’s artistic and artisanal identity – as demonstrated by the garden’s prestigious fountains to the atelier’s water-themed mythological designs. The House serenely crafts its jewellery alongside the atelier’s luxurious, mythology-inspired fountains, which have embellished the villa since the 16th century – courtesy of the wealth of water that has engulfed the property since that era.

One notable sculpture at the House’s atelier is Miseno, depicting the mythological character Misenus who drowned whilst at battle with the sea-god Triton – as recounted in the Roman poet Virgil’s classic Latin epic poem Aeneid. Here again, the symbolism and references to water are omnipresent in FerriFirenze’s artisanal history.

The House’s majestic Waterfall collection directly draws inspiration from the gentle and fluid nature of water, etching the illusion of ebbs and flows into every element of its 18k gold necklaces, earrings, and rings.

The Corsi Salviati family built water cisterns and canals not only for the sustenance of the villa but also to improve the life of the entire community, making a significant contribution.
Water is movement, it’s reflections of light, it’s sound and rhythm – these are distinctive characteristics that you can also find in FerriFirenze’s collections.

There are many different sculptures and frescoes at the House’s atelier depicting mythological characters such as Miseno, the sea-god Triton, River, Cupid and Psyche inspired by the ancient classics and inspiring today’s FerriFirenze creations.

Art-Inspired Collections

From the sculptural masterpieces adorning the garden to the artistic frescoes plastered across the villa, a profoundly artistic spirit lingers in FerriFirenze’s atelier – which is reflected in the House’s exquisite pieces.

Historically, the villa welcomed the most distinguished poets, musicians, and artists of their respective eras onto the premises – regularly hosting poetic readings, concerts and theatrical performances. For instance, the legendary Italian composer Jacopo Corsi (1561-1602) commissioned the atelier’s statue of Orpheus from Stati di Bracciano – due to the mythological figure’s strong ties to the world of music to which Jacopo was no stranger.

Each of the FerriFirenze’s collections is quintessentially artistic, including the ultra-sophisticated Plissé Collection which pays homage to defining artistic movements such as Art Deco and Art Nouveau.
