Kate Middleton Wore Princess Diana’s Go-To Tiara At The Royal Holiday Party

Glittering from head-to-toe

In London on 4 December, Kate pulled out all the festive stops for the annual white-tie holiday party at Buckingham Palace, held by Queen Elizabeth. From her sparkly gown from British designer Jenny Packham to the dazzling Lover’s Knot tiara she chose for the event, the Duchess of Cambridge was styled in the ultimate holiday partywear.

The tiara has a special history in the royal family, created especially for Queen Mary in 1914. It was notoriously favoured by the late Princess Diana, who wore it on many occassions but was never allowed to keep it – and now Kate has opted to wear it at a number of outtings, paying tribute to her husband’s beloved mother.

After returning from maternity leave, Kate was last seen wearing the Lover’s Knot tiara at the end of October while attending the State Banquet in London. She styled it similarly, with an elegant up-do and drop pearl earrings to complete the look.

Kate paired her glitzy gown and glittering tiara with delicate jewellery to match. She had a simple diamond bracelet on her right writs and carried a simple but chic jewelled clutch.
