Why Olivia Dean Can’t Stop Wearing Clash de Cartier

The singer shares why she always comes back to an all-gold look

Since its 2019 debut, Cartier’s Clash de Cartier collection has been a favourite from the maison and played with the concept of contrast. The jewellery line features studs softened into spheres, sharp geometry, and a silhouette that almost speaks to rebellion, yet holds the elegance the brand is known for.

This year, Cartier has added more creations to the range, with the latest pieces doubling down on that signature aesthetic, expanding the line into new proportions, materials and colour. Alongside the house’s sculptural classics in yellow, rose, and white gold, Clash now plays with pavé-set diamonds for extra shimmer, and introduces stones that heighten the “clash” in a more playful way, including pink chalcedony, onyx, and red and green-tinted agate. The offering has also grown more versatile in the sizes it’s presented in, with everything from mini, medium, and extra-large models to flexible bracelets and necklaces to choose from.

Now, the newest face of the French luxury brand is London-born singer-songwriter, Olivia Dean, whose honeyed soul-pop has become a global fixation. Olivia, just days ago, had a major career milestone at the 68th Grammy Awards on February 1, where she won Best New Artist.

Walking the red carpet, she accessorised her ensemble with Cartier jewellery. But her love for the brand was spotted by fans long before when she wore Cartier’s Love Unlimited bracelet in her “So Easy (To Fall in Love)” music video.

Here, Olivia tells us what she’s been reaching for from Clash de Cartier lately — and what makes the pieces fit perfectly in her collection…

What do you love most about the Clash de Cartier collection?

What I love most is how playful it is. The movement in the beads gives everything this cool, tactile feel. It’s bold without trying too hard. I also really love the newer pieces, they’re bolder in scale or have unexpected pops of colour, which makes them feel fresh and fun to wear.

Do you find yourself drawn more to Onyx, Pink Chalcedony, Red or Green Agate – or do you lean toward an all-gold look?

I love colourful moments but I always reach for an all gold look – I think it goes with everything. It’s iconic and timeless.

What is your earliest memory of jewellery, that holds special meaning for you?

All the women in my family have a bangle with gold from Guyana. I wear it every single day and have matching with my mum and my auntie. I love feeling connected with jewellery.

How do you like to style your jewellery in everyday life or on special occasions? Do you have a go-to piece that you never leave the house without? Why that one?

Day to day, I keep things simple – usually a few rings or small hoops, layered in a way that feels like me. For something more dressed up, I’ll go for a bolder piece to elevate the look, but I still want it to feel natural. I always wear gold earrings though. They’ve kind of become my signature – they just tie everything together.

What’s it like working with a maison as legendary as Cartier?

It’s such a special experience. Cartier has this amazing mix of history and creativity – they honour tradition but still feel modern. I love that they really celebrate individuality. It feels like a genuine fit, and I’m proud to be part of it.

Can you share a bit about the creative projects you are currently working on?

I’ve just released my second album “The Art of Loving“, and I can’t wait to tour it around the world and connect to people for music.
