From E-Waste to Wearable Art: Discover How Oushaba Turned Discarded Phones into Stunning Jewellery
Explore the British brand’s debut collection, Connection Salvaged, where discarded objects become extraordinary works of art
Imagine phone circuit boards, charging cables, and plugs undergoing a transformation to emerge as striking rings, necklaces, earrings, and cufflinks. Within electronics lie a myriad of exquisite elements, including gold and other jewel-like colours waiting to be explored. In a rare fusion of luxury and sustainability, Oushaba, an avant-garde art and design house, has unveiled its first collection, Connection Salvaged, where discarded technological fragments find a new purpose.
Derived from the Arabic term for alloy, Oushaba represents a fusion of ideas and influences that embody the atelier’s innovative spirit.
With the launch of this collection, Gillian Carr, the managing director and co-founder of Oushaba, challenges perceptions of waste, remarking, “We aim to redefine the notion of discarded materials.”

But it doesn’t end there. As the latest collection transcends the boundaries of traditional jewellery, it becomes a poignant example of the connections fostered through modern technology.

Gillian reflects on the genesis of the collection, saying, “Amidst the 2020 lockdown, when Oushaba took shape, we relied on technology to stay linked with our loved ones. However, we discard our phones on average every 18 months, with a staggering 80% of e-waste inadequately recycled, ultimately ending up in landfills.”
As the inaugural collection focuses on tech jewellery as wearable art, the avant-garde art house paves the way for future lines exploring fashion, accessories, and decorative objects in collaboration with artisans worldwide.
