Which model are you wearing?
A Royal Oak Diamond Silver Dial by Audemars Piguet.
How did you come to own it?
It was a fifth wedding anniversary gift from my husband.
Why this model?
I love all of Audemars Piguet’s designs – but especially their Royal Oak models. I’m a big fan of men's watches (I frequently borrow my husband’s) and like the way Royal Oaks still look masculine but have a feminine edge.
Why is wearing a watch important to you?
For me, it’s all about the movement – it can be like an orchestra. Whilst watches have always been seen as a status symbol, there is a big difference between today’s mass produced watches and the luxury timepieces that focus on design, quality and complexity.
I've always been a fan of luxury watches and marrying a watch fanatic has only encouraged this further!
What other models are in your watch wardrobe?
Mainly Cartier watches. You only need to look around to see their popularity, from the wrists of First Ladies to family men across Europe. I believe that the people who wear Cartier are often passionate art lovers who believe in treating themselves and other people around them. They enjoy the finer things in life and often acquire these watches to wear for years to come – they are here for the long haul.
Do you feel that your tastes and style have changed since you first started collecting watches?
Of course! When I was younger I wanted my watch to be cool, colourful and urban. Then gradually I began learning and understanding the value of luxury timepieces. Whilst I am the type of person who is perfectly happy wearing a T-shirt from H&M, I love to invest in my watches and jewellery collection.
Do you have any other models on your watch 'wish list'?
I believe most brands have models I like – there is a myriad of watch designs out there due to the diversity of tastes, However, I particularly adore Patek Philippe’s watches – they are definitely a favourite brand.
