Piaget Unveils The Limelight Gala Precious By Shamsa Alabbar
Emirati designer Shamsa Alabbar brings Arabic artistry to the maison’s most iconic timepiece to celebrate Ramadan
Timekeeping is an inextricable part of Ramadan. Measuring the hours of prayer, fasting and festivities plays an important part of the Holy Month, and Piaget’s Ramadan campaign speaks to the preciousness of time, as well as sacred rhythms.
In tribute to the spiritual heritage of the region, the maison has reinterpreted its iconic timepiece, the Limelight Gala, which has stood the test of time since it was first launched in 1973. The perfect blend of artistry, gem-setting expertise, precious metal work and fine watchmaking, the Limelight Gala has been reinterpreted many times over the decades, but for 2025, the maison has collaborated with Emirati designer Shamsa Alabbar to bring her signature design codes to life upon its sleek and svelte canvas.
Echoing Shamsa’s contemporary take on Arabic typography, the maison has brought her Token design to life, a motif that symbolises power, unity and balance. Gold Arabesque motifs are set upon the watch’s mother-of-pearl dial, a reference to the region’s maritime connections, and the case is complemented by a hand-engraved bracelet crafted by Piaget’s mastercraftsmen at the Ateliers De L’Extraordinaire. Through this partnership, the watch also captures the importance of togetherness during Ramadan.

“We were speaking different languages and yet, we perfectly understood each other, down to the tiniest detail,” said Shamsa Alabbar. This feeling remains even today when I take a look at this new creation that carries both our names.” The maison has also extended the motif to precious tokens that make the perfect Ramadan gift – collectible coffee cups with the emblems Light, Peace, Blessing, Tranquility and Generosity.
