The French brand gained an interest in Islamic art after Louis Cartier, the grandson of the founder of the Maison, visited major exhibitions in Paris that were dedicated to Islamic art with Persian and Indian influences.

He enriched the brand’s study library with the latest publications devoted to Islamic arts and architecture which became an endless source of inspiration for the Maison’s designers. As the creatives discovered unique patterns and shapes in Islamic architecture, artworks, and literature, Cartier unlocked a new realm artistic expression and inspiration that is still in use to date.
