Watch: Lily-Rose Depp Stars in Chanel’s Premiére Édition Originale Campaign
The moment we’ve all been waiting for since it was announced that the timepiece would be making its return…
Chanel has announced the reissue of their Premiére Édition Originale Watch.
As stated on the luxury brand’s Website, the timeless piece was first created in 1987 under Jacques Helleu who was artistic director at the time. Currently, brand ambassador and daughter of famous actor Johnny Depp, Lily-Rose, can be seen with the watch adorned on her wrist in a short film directed by Inez and Vinoodh announcing its reissue. The filming location was Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s apartment at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris.
The watch hosts incredible details featuring many house codes that represent the essence of the brand itself. For example, the dial may look familiar to many as it pays homage to the maison’s most famous perfume: Chanel N°5. The design of the strap, which is created in the fashion house’s signature colours, black and gold, and the coating on top in yellow gold also boast a tribute to Chanel founder. (“Gabrielle Chanel’s love of all that sparkles, including baroque, Byzantine and Venetian treasures,” notes the brand on its Instagram.)
Another noticeable feature of the timeless creation is the lack of numerals on the dial which is intended to evoke “the essential: a spirit of freedom and audacity unique to Chanel” which the dark black used further accentuates.
There has been great attention to detail paid into the design with the gold clasp having Chanel engraved onto it.
Overall the watch echoes all that makes Chanel classic and timeless.
