How This Cult Favourite Saudi Label Is Making A Comeback…
Streetwear brand, Too Dark To See Tomorrow (2D2C2M) is back with a grown-up, minimalist collection that shows maturity without losing any of its edge. Here, Saudi fashion and documentary photographer, Hayat Osamah brings the pieces to life…
It’s been almost three years since Saudi designer Ahmad Alwohaibi last added something rebellious to our wardrobes from his unisex label Too Dark To See Tomorrow (2D2C2M), but his first independent runway show, aptly titled Homecoming, presented an innovative and exciting 22-piece collection that was worth every minute of the wait.

A monochrome aesthetic holds many of the pieces together, but ’90s tie-dyed jumpers, striped sweaters, cashmere knitwear and baseball jackets added colour and texture. The collection offers up a mix of laidback streetwear as well as more tailored options in a new grown-up direction for the label, and maybe the first clue as to what Ahmad has been doing with his time away.

“I took a break for my wellbeing,” he told Arab News. “I needed to re-examine my values and to also set my house in perfect order. The collection symbolises my journey in the last three years, I called it ‘Homecoming’ for this reason.”

And his return came in the form of The Kingdom’s first fully independent fashion show, put together by an all-Saudi team of of directors, stylists, make-up artists, lighting designers, photographers and models – working on the media studio-based presentation over a three-month period.

But there’s still elements of the original label and its much-loved symbolism, with pieces carrying slogans such as ‘Never thought our culture would become mainstream’ and ‘If we don’t build we will be destroyed’, showing that even as you mature, you can still have a renegade edge.
