How Sheikha Salama Bint Hazza Al Nahyan’s New Book ‘The Horse, The Saluki & The Falcon’ Provides Inspiration and Positivity During Uncertain Times
The fifth book by the Emirati author focuses on the silver linings of life while celebrating UAE culture and animals
The Emirati author Sheikha Salama Bint Hazza Al Nahyan has released her fifth book after receiving widespread acclaim for her previous work.
Her new book entitled ‘The Horse, The Saluki & The Falcon’ is a collection of quotes aiming to shed light on the positivity of the universe, during a period of global uncertainty. Focusing on life’s silver linings, it pays homage to the UAE, celebrating animals form Emirati culture — specifically turning them into icons of wisdom that impart lessons in empathy, love and kindness.
The renowned author embarked on her literary journey in 2014 with a fiction novel for young adults. She collectively follows the progression of a young adult’s understanding of the world and workings of relationships around them throughout her writing. Her latest book launch charts the author’s crossover into fiction for a more mature audience.
It puts forth the notion that animals represent wisdom and a different aspect of the human experience. For instance, the Horse represents beauty and power while the Falcon signifies alertness of the mind and soul. Olga Byrne’s poetic illustrations accompany the book, a choice that Sheikha Salama describes to be as intuitive as the emotional current that runs through her latest work.
Whilst this latest launch was planned to take place at the Paris Book Fair, the current social climate meant there was a greater urgency and need to share life’s silver linings. Hoping to provide relief and reassurance, Salama notes ‘this book is a work for all ages, it teaches humility, compassion and empathy to young and mature readers alike.”
