A Day At The Races: KSA Steps Out In Style For The Saudi Cup
We take a closer look at some of the most fashionable moments from the two-day event, which took place this past weekend at Riyadh’s King Abdulaziz Racetrack
It all started with a fresh perspective on dressing for one of the most important events in the Saudi social calendar… and ended with a stunning spectacle of embellished abayas and intricate headpieces like we’ve never seen before within the region.
Saudi Arabia’s Fashion Commission joined forces with fashion heritage expert Dr. Laila Albassam and illustrator Norah Sahman to establish a new Dress Code for the Royal Enclosure at this year’s Saudi Cup, which took place at Riyadh’s King Abdulaziz Racetrack throughout this past weekend. The theme? Outfits inspired by Saudi fashion heritage.
“Saudi Arabia’s fashion heritage is rich and colourful. The Fashion Commission is pleased to have produced the dress code for The Saudi Cup 2021, as a wonderful platform to showcase Saudi heritage,” HH Highness Princess Noura bint Faisal Al Saud, founder of Saudi Fashion Week and member of Saudi Arabia’s Fashion Commission, said. “Our hope is that this work will inspire a contemporary generation to look to the past and, by understanding and referencing it, they will create clothes that embrace Saudi’s heritage and build a narrative for its future.”
Here, we share a selection of some of the most striking looks from the races as guests embrace this year’s theme with gusto.
