Natacha Ramsay-Levi demonstrates a pragmatic, understudied Parisian approach for a brand new Chloé aesthetic

It’s been exactly two years since Natacha Ramsay-Levi was announced the successor of Clare Waight Keller at Chloé; marking the Parisian designer’s first ever role as Creative Director. Under Ramsay-Levi’s stewardship, the French luxury fashion house has seen a gradual evolution away from a quintessentially bohemian-luxe aesthetic into something a little more tailored, a little more grown-up and yet all the while staying true to Chloé’s signature effortless feel.

Chloé’s spring/summer 2020 show saw the culmination of Natacha Ramsay-Levi’s vision for the brand with the introduction of more sophisticated, grown-up Chloé woman. The woman that she has been hinting at for the past few seasons has finally emerged and she is empowered and polished; opting for fuss-free, tailoring in fluid fabrics to confidently channel her free-spirited femininity.

Pinstripes and tailoring embrace a sense of fluidity, punctuated with unexpected sartorial accents that reimagine masculine essentials. From a peak lapel and belted waist to tied cuffs or an extended lining; the details exude a coy Parisian sensuality. A bare décolletage peeks out from under masculine-cut jackets, poetic scarf tops soften city shorts. The entire collection is underpinned with a sense of lightness and playfulness but without the frou frou. A fresh new perspective that showcases Ramsay-Levi’s fundmental vision for the Chloé woman: femininty anchored in reality.
