Into Secret Garden: How Van Cleef & Arpels is Celebrating The Splendour Of Spring With Its New Collection
With warmer weather upon us Lucky Spring pays tribute to nature, rebirth and the beauty of the change of season, in all its glory
Spring has always been a season synonymous with renewal, conjuring images of blossoming flora and fauna which inspire creativity; Van Cleef & Arpels newest collection, ‘Lucky Spring’, pays homage to the marvel of this season. The six-piece collection is both a symbol of new beginnings yet a retrospective of the French high jeweller’s colourful past.
The collection consists of a long necklace, three bracelets, a clip, and a pair of earrings. Each infuses florals which date back to the French Maison’s 1920-era diamond clips and brooches with the ladybug, a part of Van Cleef & Arpels overarching narrative of ‘good luck animals’ that first made an appearance in the 1930s as a delicate charm. Expertly sourced materials in complementing palettes – rose gold, mother-of-pearl, carnelian, and onyx – set the stage for the Lucky Spring collection.
Heralding the arrival of spring, ladybugs, leaves, and flowers joyfully frolic on the long necklace and the five-motif bracelet. Fine golden pistils glimmer in the heart of the plum blossoms, while the mother-of-pearl harmonizes with the pearly sheen of the lilies of the valley. The pieces are peppered with tasseled leaves in a textured rose gold that delicately reflects light with each movement. Ladybugs set with carnelian for a dazzling red hue that contrasts with the deep black of the onyx portraying the head give the collection a playful edge.
The Maison’s immaculate craftsmanship intertwines with the poetry of nature where ladybugs are caught midflight flitting and fluttering on precarious whims and flowers bloom in surprise. Lucky Spring is a classically sophisticated collection with a tinge of joie de vivre.
