Abu Dhabi Turf Club Is Set To Host One Of Equestrian Racing’s Most Exciting Events

A leading regional stable will celebrate purebred Arabian heritage, family moments and impeccable dining

If you know anything about the UAE, you’ll know that equine racing isn’t simply a pastime here. It’s a living expression of culture, especially honouring the Arabian horse and the way its power and grace have stayed the same through generations. It’s this deep-rooted connection that makes the UAE President Cup such a defining moment each year, and on December 6, the tradition continues as Abu Dhabi Turf Club will be hosting the 33rd edition of the celebrated race night.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Cup continues the legacy first established in 1994 by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Today, it stands as the world’s leading Arabian Purebred racing event, uniting elite jockeys, top trainers and champion horses for a prize purse of AED 10.8 million.

Abu Dhabi Turf Club, refreshed through major renovations in 2023, offers a championship turf track, VIP suites and a grandstand designed for both comfort and spectacle. The Turfside Lounge keeps guests close to the racing action from the moment the event begins at 3pm, while the award-winning restaurant Strawfire crafts an unforgettable dining experience.

As you move through the venue, the cultural heart of the President Cup becomes impossible to miss. Emirati workshops by Al Ghadeer bring the focus to traditional crafts, creating a hands-on connection to heritage. Younger attendees get the spotlight with the National Dress “Best Dressed” showcase, a highlight that celebrates pride and tradition through the next generation. Along with these activities, live entertainment and cultural installations also add to the atmosphere.

Guests who love photography will find themselves drawn into the President Cup Photo Competition, where an AED 10,000 prize waits for the best capture of the night.

The President Cup for Arabian Purebreds, however, remains the anchor for the evening, drawing spectators into the kind of anticipation that always comes before the most elite competitions. Each race reinforces the significance of the Arabian horse, a symbol of endurance, beauty and national pride.

The night will conclude with a drone show that lights up the sky, bringing together the event’s themes of heritage, innovation and unity. It’s a fitting ending to a night that celebrates not only the sport, but the culture that shaped it.
