End Game: Red Reigned Supreme At Last Night’s Super Bowl LVIII Game
Sunday night proved to be the ultimate star-studded event with millions tuning in for Usher’s halftime show and thrilling Kansas City Chiefs’ win…
For one night only, what happens in Vegas did not in fact stay in Vegas. The self-described “Entertainment Capital of the World” hosted Super Bowl LVIII this year with the Kansas City Chiefs battling out against the San Francisco 49ers.
Projected to draw an audience of 114 million, this year’s Super Bowl at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada has got everyone beat. Aside from the multimillion-dollar commercials and heart-pumping team plays, Usher’s rock-and-rolling halftime show and the allure of Taylor Swift’s relationship with Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce have only added to the hype.
Post Malone and Reba McEntire ignited the evening’s festivities with patriotic performances of “America the Beautiful” and “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Once the coin was tossed, an exciting game ensued with the Kansas City Chiefs beating the San Francisco 49ers with a score of 25-22 that lasted into overtime.
As cameras panned across the audience, famous faces came into focus. Beyonce, Jay-Z, a bejeweled Lady Gaga, and more were all seen rooting for their respective teams. In Taylor’s private suite, actress Blake Lively and rapper Ice Spice could be seen celebrating with every Chief’s score.
The Midnights popstar had only just been in Tokyo for her Eras tour, after making a 9173-kilometer journey to see her boyfriend take the field. The globe-trotting trek had gone viral on TikTok with many questioning if it was even possible for Taylor to make it in time for the game. The embassy of Japan rest assured Swifties worldwide after releasing an official statement online.
“We know that many people in Japan are excited to experience Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, so we wanted to confirm that everyone concerned can be Fearless in knowing that this talented performer can wow Japanese audiences and still make it to Las Vegas to support the Chiefs when they take the field for the Super Bowl wearing Red.”
Taylor could be seen cheering on in her signature red lip with a black Dion Lee corset, crystal AREA jeans, and a Wear by Erin Andrews Chiefs bomber jacket. As a nod to Travis, the signer adorned herself with a #87 necklace.
Not to be outdone, Usher had viewers saying “OMG” as he took to the stage clad in Dolce & Gabbana and Off-White.
Among those who joined the singer onstage were Alicia Keys wearing a custom Dolce & Gabbana catsuit sprinkled with Swarovski crystals along with Ludacris and Lil Jon, H.E.R., and Ludacris.
The entire performance served as a reminder for audiences everywhere that the king of R&B still had the moves and the voice to whip back through the 2000s with rousing renditions of, “My Boo” and “Love in This Club.” Two days before the R&B singer dropped his latest album, Coming Home, his first since 2016.
Taylor made an album announcement of her own as she accepted her 13th Grammy for Midnights last Sunday. No stranger to breaking records, Taylor made history at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards after taking home her 4th Album of the Year award. In response, Travis showed his unwavering admiration for Taylor.
“She’s unbelievable, she’s rewriting the history books herself,” said Travis. “I told her I’ll have to hold up my end of the bargain and bring home some hardware, too.” Tonight it’s official, Travis has made good on his promise.
