An Artistic Reality: Through The Eye Of Maher Mouhajer

With designs driven by cultural inspiration, Mouhajer International Design is uniting the classic and modern worlds

Maher Mouhajer, CEO and engineer of Mouhajer International Design is the visionary behind award-winning developments that blend art, architecture, design and build across residential, commercial and hospitality projects. Inspired by global architectural influences and rich Arabian culture, every project is treated with a fusion of classic and modern styling. “We strive to achieve a consumable artistic reality,” he says, and it shows in the luxury projects the firm has worked on, some of which include the Sofitel JBR, Sheraton Abu Dhabi Hotel & Resort, Radisson Blu and The Address Hotel, Lounge at Address Boulevard and the restaurant at Adress Dubai Marina, to name just a few.

With a presence that spans the UAE, GCC, Africa, and Europe, Mouhajer International Design strives to bridge the gap between the East and West through contemporary designs that are driven by emotional intelligence and cultural influences. Working with a team of interior designers, engineers, technicians, and craftsmen, each turnkey project offers solutions across spatial planning, interior and exterior design and build, refurbishing and landscape, along with custom-designed furniture.

Reflecting the opulence and grandeur of Arabia, the Sheraton Abu Dhabi Hotel & Resort recently won the Arabian Property Awards for Best Hotel Interior where the grand lobby and VIP lounge, echo a revival Art-Deco style with eclectic light fixtures and a bold statement of geometry, symmetry, and metallics, set against white marble. For another private villa in Mohammed Bin Rashid City, exquisite lighting, vibrant wallpaper, and natural elements mimic the airy vibes of the outdoors, bringing together the best of both worlds enhanced with customised furniture pieces.

“Quality is at the heart of our business and all our pieces are handcrafted in our own factories,” adds Maher. It is at the joinery workshop where craftsmen meticulously work on each piece of furniture, bringing to life sketches and designs that are finished with the highest standards of precision and accuracy, with plush upholstery in a mix of fabrics and prints to complement the spaces they are created for.
