JOALI Maldives Unveils a Capsule Collection in Collaboration with Aquazzura

JOALI Maldives and Aquazzura debut a stylish sandal and clutch bag collection inspired by the island’s vibrant colour palette

Located on the Muravandhoo island in the Northern Maldives lies JOALI Maldives, an art-immersive island that marries sustainable practices with understated glamour. Brought to life by world-renowned artists and local artisans, JOALI Maldives offers a unique take on the Maldives experience, celebrating savoir faire and cherishing creativity.

These qualities will resonate with many luxury maisons, but for Aquazzura, they are a keystone of the brand. In a special partnership, Aquazzura has collaborated with JOALI Maldives on a tropical capsule collection, offering a limited-edition clutch bag and sandal co-ord inspired by the islands lush flora and colour palette.

Available in the island’s chic boutique, Maison de JOALI, the sandal and co-ordinating clutch bag embody the crystal clear waters and white sand that are synonymous with the Raa Atoll. Aquazzura’s founder and creative director, Edgardo Osorio, is inspired by the world around him, and never more than when immersed in the abundant beauty of the Maldives. His passion for sun, sea and diving led him to create these two designs, crafted from white leather, with intricate blue beading and embroidery that brings to life the island’s sparkling waters and crisp sky.

The perfecto memento from a trip to paradise, the clutch bag depicts the arrival jetty at the resort, while the sandals are the perfect choice for a leisurely stroll along the shoreline. “I began diving in the Maldives a few years ago and was immediately captivated by the vibrant nature and stunning colours of its coral reefs,” explains Edgardo. “During a recent visit to JOALI Maldives, I was enchanted by the resort’s beautiful architecture, exceptional service, and wellness rituals. As a devoted admirer of the sun and the sea, I collaborated with JOALI Maldives to create something special, culminating in the exclusive launch of the first Aquazzura pop-up collection in the Maldives.”

From December 29, guests at JOALI Maldives can also discover the Aquazzura Casa collection. The maison’s Secret Garden line is reminiscent of 18th-century Chinese porcelain, featuring elegant flora and fauna in blue and green tones, once more drawing on the ‘Aqua’ blue that first inspired the concept behind Aquazzura. Those lucky enough to dine at JOALI Maldives’s restaurant, Bellinis, can enjoy delicious dishes by chef Theodor Falser, perfectly presented on the exquisite dinner suite. So go on, indulge, and take a little of the Maldives back home with you.
