The Ambani Wedding: Best Dressed At The Divine Blessings Ceremony
The second day of the Ambani wedding celebrations saw a glittering throng of glamorous guests join the festivities
On the second day of the Ambani wedding celebrations, the Shubh Aashirvaad – a divine blessings ceremony – was a moment for guests from around the world to celebrate the newly-wed couple.
With many of the guests already in Mumbai for the previous day’s wedding, there were many invitees that we expected to see again for round two – Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday, Khushi Kapoor and Shanaya Kapoor were just a few of the Hollywood and Bollywood names who attend the second day’s revelries.
With them arrived a new flurry of regional celebrities and notable figures, all revelling in the opulent ambiance that the Ambani family has created in what feels like its own universe inside the Jio World Centre.
The defining moment of the ceremony was the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who came to deliver his blessings to the newly married couple, and greet their parents.
Here, Bazaar Arabia rounds up the best-dressed guests that channelled the ‘Formal Indian’ dress code at the Ambani divine blessings ceremony.
Radhika Ambani
For her first evening as Mrs Radhika Ambani, the bride wore Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla couture, who collaborated with Indian artist and sculptor Jayasri Burman to create an extraordinary ensemble. Twelve hand-painted panels feature meaningful figurative motifs, referencing the couple’s union, the divinity in their humanity, and the groom’s love of animals, including the auspicious elephant. The embroidery gleams with real gold, and glitters with a sea of sequins.
The bride’s exquisite suite of diamond, emerald and pearl jewellery was designed by Viren Bhagat and required almost a year to meticulously craft, while sourcing its rare Colombian emeralds and natural saltwater pearls was an extraordinary feat that began much longer ago. Delighted with the finished pieces, the esteemed Indian designer told Bazaar Arabia that it had been very much worth the wait, and that Radhika “wore them beautifully.”
Nita Ambani
For the second night of the festivities, Nita Ambani chose a Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla couture hand-embroidered Zardozi ghagra, featuring motifs inspired by the architecture and temples of Kashi.
On the reverse, the jewelled blouse features hand-embroidered Jhumkaas and auspicious elephant motifs, while on the borders of the ample skirt, the names of Nita’s children and grandchildren are delicately stitched. Once more showing her love of emeralds, Nita wore a suite of staggeringly large emeralds from her personal collection, designed and crafted by Indian mast jeweller Viren Bhagat.
Kim and Khloe Kardashian
Kim and Khloe Kardashian made their second appearance of the weekend, emerging in two shades of pink and fully adorned with diamonds. U.S. based designer Lorraine Schwartz crafted the exceptional diamond necklace, earrings, mang tikka and nath worn by Kim, and her nude hued lehenga was a couture design by Tarun Tahiliani.
Later in the evening, Kim changed into another red ensemble, explaining to Julia Hackman Chafé that she had chosen a remarkable suite of Lorraine Schwartz emeralds, featuring an exquisite headpiece, hand jewel, earrings and ring.
Janhvi Kapoor
Janhvi Kapoor chose a custom corset lehenga from Tarun Tahiliani’s upcoming collection that glittered with countless beads, gems and silver sequins.
Alia Bhatt
Actor Alia Bhatt chose a more sedate ensemble for the second evening of celebrations compared to the vibrant red she wore to the couple’s wedding itself, but her jewellery brought ample drama to her neutral-hued lehenga. Wearing an extraordinary diamond necklace that adorned her entire décolletage, Alia added matching earrings and stacks of bangles to finish the look.
Rashmika Mandanna
In one of the few darker-toned outfits we have seen so far in the wedding celebrations, Rashmika Mandanna stood out in a navy blue ensemble with scintillating silver beading and sequins. Rashmika’s hair was pulled back into a neat bun, adorned entirely with fresh flowers as a final flourish.
Manushi Chiller
Manushi Chiller’s sheer nude and silver sequinned ensemble felt ultra-contemporary, and her loose waves and red lipstick gave a Hollywood feel to the look. Manushi accessorized the ensemble with a classic diamond and white pearl necklace.
Ananya Pandey
Bollywood star Ananya Pandey looked every part the Indian princess as she arrived at the Shubh Aashirvaad celebrations. Her delicate mint ensemble was a saccharine delight, embellished with pastel embroidery and delicate beading. A sleek diamond choker adorned her neck, which sported a fringe of elegant pearls.
Jacqueline Fernandez
Jacqueline Fernandez stood out in a demure and stylish dress with a tailored collar and cuffs, in a verdant green hue that served as the perfect canvas for her sensational diamond and emerald necklace.
