Can You Buy Twitter Verification? What We Know So Far…
As Elon Musk begins his reign, big change looms in the not-so-distant future…
Can You Buy Twitter Verification? Bazaar Arabia shares everything you need to know.
So… you’ve caught wind that Twitter may soon be charging a small sum for a verification badge and you’re wondering how to purchase your own?
According to The Guardian, it’s been a week since the CEO of Space X and Tesla closed the $44 billion deal to buy micro-blogging platform Twitter. Since then, the billionaire and business investor has wasted no time making quick decisions and risky plans.
The talk about Elon possibly purchasing the American communications company came around April 14, 2022. It all started when he began to invest in Twitter’s shares in January 2022, and quickly become one of Twitter’s largest shareholders, owning a 9.1 percent ownership stake.

Officially, the deal between the social media platform and Elon was concluded on October 27, 2022; the business mogul has reportedly already gotten to work by firing many of Twitter’s long-time staff.
Recently, he proposed the concept of charging users $8 for a verification badge – possibly one of his most controversial propositions yet, as almost everyone on the platform has an opinion about whether or not paying for (what ultimately is) internet clout is a good idea.
Twitter’s current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullshit.
Power to the people! Blue for $8/month.

So… Can You Buy Twitter Verification?
It’s fair to say that the future update has split the internet in half in regards to who agrees with the decision and who doesn’t. Most notably, American horror and crime author Stephen King took to Twitter to share his thoughts on Elon’s proposition.
$20 a month to keep my blue check? Fuck that, they should pay me. If that gets instituted, I’m gone like Enron.

Unfortunately, information on whether or not it is actually possible to purchase the verification badge isn’t available at this time – although one can assume Elon Musk will not be delaying the decision any time soon – the decision could become final as early as Monday. According to Bloomberg, those wanting to purchase a verification badge could spend $8 (approx. 30dhs) per month on the subscription; other sources report it could cost up to $20 (approx. 74dhs).
