Into The Blue: The Chanel J12 Watch Gets A Glow-Up For 2025

Meet Chanel’s new limited-edition J12 watches, crafted from a single block of sapphire and cutting-edge ceramic

It’s been 25 years since the J12 first entered our watch wardrobes. Launching the iconic black edition at the turn of the millennium, Chanel swiftly introduced its chic white counterpart in 2003. Fast forward to today, and fashion’s favourite watch has been reinvented twice over with two new models in town – the J12 Bleu in blue matte ceramic, and the J12 BLEU X-RAY, cut from a single block of synthetic sapphire.

Their exclusive colour is inspired by the jewellery boxes of Chanel’s original 1932 Bijoux de Diamants collection, and was five years in the making. “The final choice of this particular blue was like an epiphany, I wanted a blue that has a rigorous elegance, a blue that is nearly black, or a black that is nearly blue,” says Arnaud Chastaingt, director of the Chanel Watchmaking Creation Studio. The final flourish? 196 baguette-cut sapphires upon the bezel – we think it’s blooming marvellous.
