Chanel Names Marie-Laure Cérède as New Director of Jewellery Creation Studio
The French maison has appointed the former Cartier Creative Director to lead its precious jewellery and high jewellery creations.
Chanel has appointed Marie-Laure Cérède as Director of its Jewellery Creation Studio, the house confirmed this week. The French designer, who spent nearly a decade as Creative Director of Jewellery and Watchmaking at Cartier, will officially take up the role in October 2026.
The appointment fills a position left vacant since the passing of Patrice Leguéreau, who had led the studio for 15 years, in 2024.
In her new role, Cérède will hold strategic and stylistic leadership over Chanel’s precious jewellery and high jewellery collections, coordinating development teams across Paris and Geneva. She will report to Frédéric Grangié, president of watches and fine jewellery, and will collaborate with Arnaud Chastaingt, director of Chanel’s watchmaking creation studio.
Cérède brings more than two decades of experience at the top tier of luxury jewellery. A graduate of ESCP Europe, she began her career at Cartier before joining Harry Winston in 2002 as Artistic Director of Jewellery and Watchmaking, a role she held for 14 years. She returned to Cartier in 2016 and remained there until the end of 2025.
