Why Crypto Currency Ushers In A New Era Of Freedom For Female Investors
Forget the finance jargon and intimidating stock charts, crypto is opening the door for women to invest on their own terms
At sixteen, I stepped onto the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange as an intern, following in the footsteps of my father who was a trader. It was exhilarating – fast-paced, high-stakes and unlike anything I had experienced before. But it also felt like a men’s club, one where women were noticeably outnumbered. That early exposure to traditional finance made me certain of one thing: I wanted to chart my own path.
Fast forward to today, and I’ve found myself leading global brand marketing at Binance, one of the largest crypto currency exchanges in the world. But here’s the catch, you don’t need a trader father or a Wall Street internship to explore this space. My journey back to finance began while I was still working in luxury fashion, holding roles at Ralph Lauren, Jimmy Choo and Chanel across New York and Paris. My entry point was a curious dinner in 2015 with the Winklevoss twins, during which we discussed Bitcoin.
I admit I initially dismissed the idea as eccentric, yet their enthusiasm lingered in my head. Four years later, after listening to crypto-related podcasts, reading articles and deep diving on Twitter, I made my first crypto investment.
Women often approach investing cautiously – I certainly did. But what convinced me to step into crypto was its openness, transparency and ease of access compared to traditional finance. Historically, women have faced barriers to financial conversations and opportunities. Today, crypto is reshaping that narrative, providing accessible education and fostering an inclusive community. If you’re just dipping your toes in the realm of digital currency, I recommend platforms like the Binance Academy, which offers free resources, and groups such as SheFi.
Why should women invest in crypto? Simply put, diversification leads to greater financial independence and wealth-building potential. Crypto doesn’t need to replace traditional investments, it complements them. Whether you’re starting with a dirham or more, experimenting in crypto can be both engaging and empowering. In the UAE alone, adoption rates are soaring, with women increasingly leading the charge – proving this space is not just welcoming but thriving. My hope is that more women, regardless of their backgrounds, see crypto as approachable, exciting and full of opportunity. After all,
financial freedom begins when curiosity meets courage.
