Sweater weather could be a few days away as meteorologists predict rain, clouds and stormy weather across the UAE.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology, a tropical cyclone is currently brewing in the Arabian Sea and is predicted to have an indirect effect on the UAE. A report by Khaleej Times, shares that the impact will result in cloudy weather and rainfall.

The Cyclone is expected transition into a category 3 cyclone with wind speeds of up to 190kmph.

Will Cyclone Tej Hit The UAE?

Yesterday, certain parts of the UAE, like Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah were issued orange and yellow alerts.

Several videos of the rain occurring near South Shoka (an area near the Oman border) and other mountainous regions were shared by the official UAE weather page.

Will it Rain in Dubai Today?

According to UAE Official Weather, the lowest temperature recorded was 18.9°C in Jais Mountain (Ras Al Khaimah); however, no forecast of rain has been released yet.

Heavy Rainfall Floods The Dubai Mall

Back in 2019, The UAE was subjected to exceptionally strong winds and heavy rainfall causing a number of traffic accidents, jams and floods on the streets. The rain water even made its way into the world’s biggest shopping centre, Dubai Mall, soaking shoppers, staff and merchandise.

Footage of the leaks and floods at the mall circulated across social media, showing inches-deep water inside some of the mall’s stores. Shops like Kate Spade were completely washed out as staff rushed to prevent their stock from getting wet.
