Lucky Charms: Dior’s Rose Des Vents Collection Dishes Divine Inspiration With Fresh Delights

Fine jewellery Creative Director Victoire De Castellane invites Bazaar Arabia along on the French fashion house’s latest odyssey, complete with stunning new additions to its iconic collection…

The heart of the Rose Des Vents collection is embodied by the wind rose symbol, reimagined from Christian Dior’s lucky star and paying tribute to the compass rose founded in Mr. Dior’s Granville home.

Symbolising travel and love for adventure, Rose Des Vents is a journey on the four winds through the history of the Dior house and its founder and onwards to far-off lands.

This eight-pointed motif combines Monsieur Dior’s favorite number (eight), flower (a rose), and symbol (a star) into one design; a nod to sailing the open seas, a nautical twisting rope of gold rice grains encircles the medallion.

Rose des Vents, the wind rose, is a metaphor for creation. I wanted to start from the idea of a little motif pendant, and what is more metaphorical than a medallion?” says Victoire De Castellane, creative director of Dior Joaillerie. “Creating is about searching, turning things over, finding the cardinal point, and setting off on a journey.”

Featuring majestic moons and dancing stars, Dior’s Rose Des Vents pays tribute to all things celestial and divine. An eclectic mix of necklaces and bracelets of white gold and mother-of-pearl, yellow gold and lapis lazuli, turquoise and mother-of-pearl meet fine diamonds and precious stones – providing divine inspiration for the modern Dior wearer.

This year’s additions to Rose Des Vents include new versions of the characteristic medallion, in pavé diamond and rose gold with onyx, four pendants, and five reversible rings. Whether hard stone or wind rose side out, dictated by the wearer’s movements, the raised star glitters in yellow, white, or rose gold and is as delicate as the selection of stones – while paying tribute to Monsieur Dior’s passion for magic and divinity.
