Dubai Fashion Week, Day Two: A Recap Of The Captivating Runway Shows

On Monday, February 5, the second day of Dubai Fashion Week saw a packed agenda of esteemed female couturiers from the region

Dubai Fashion Week’s A/W 24-25 edition commenced on Sunday 4 February and will continue up until Thursday 8 February 2024.

Mrs. Keepa opened the showcase with an exhibition-style presentation in the afternoon while Anaya, Humariff, and Maison Sara Chraibi lit up the Design District later that evening.

Bazaar Arabia shares a recap of the fantastic runway shows from Day Two of Dubai Fashion Week.

Dubai Fashion Week, Day Two: A Recap

Mrs. Keepa Studio

Debuting the couture arm of their brand, Mrs. Keepa showcased a collection inspired by an “underwater world,” designer Mariam Yehia told Bazaar Arabia exclusively.

Known for their eccentric and colourful designs, Mrs. Keepa’s Autumn/Winter 24-25 collection, titled “Inhale,” steers away from their usual aesthetic in favour of darker and more neutral tones.

“The collection was created during a time that was a bit challenging in the region. Hence, the inspiration was another world, underwater, where I just wanted to shut out all the noise around me and escape to more peaceful living,” shares Maria Yehia.

Maria continues, “The black colour palette represents all the darkness that surrounded us, while the beige tones symbolise all the neutral voices. Finally, the vibrant person in me won in the end, and I introduced a story that had a lot of colour.”

The mystical collection incorporates elements of oceanic flora and fauna. Seaweed, coral reefs, and deep sea creatures take the form of asymmetrical designs, structural headpieces, and 3D design elements that bring each garment to life.

Humariff

A monochromatic showcase of ethereal proportions, Humariff’s Autumn/Winter 24-25 collection payed homage to the beauty of nature. Titled “Mirage,” the collection speaks to our desire for an idyllic world and draws inspiration from scenic landscapes, exceptional views, flowers, weather, and the Arabian desert. Sequined flowing fabrics glistened down the runway in shades of soft pinks, greens, and earthy browns; whilst bold chiffon gowns and two-piece sets were reminiscent of floating floral displays. Bridal wear also made an appearance in the collection, with whimsical white gowns adorned with beadwork, floral applique and butterfly motifs closing the show on a dream-like note.

Anaya

Inspired by 1950s glamour, Anaya’s Autumn/Winter 24-25 collection captured the elegance of a bygone era. Ballgowns, tailored dresses, and two-piece sets made their way down the runway featuring dramatic trains, capes, shoulder-length gloves, and perching headwear that was popular at the time.

“The collection aims to give the modern-day woman power and sophistication, with a touch of femininity,” said designer Chathuri. This was achieved through vintage silhouettes, exaggerated shoulders, figure-hugging corsets, and a monochromatic colour palette with shimmering silvers and pops of striking reds.

Sara Chraibi

As the finale showcase of the evening, Sara Chraibi presented a multidisciplinary production. Video footage set the tone for a collection inspired by the strength of the Moroccan people, their rich tapestry of cultural heritage, and colourful spirit of the land. “I wanted to do something that paid tribute to the incredible resilience of the people of Morocco after the tragedy of their earthquake,” declared designer Sara Chraibi in a backstage interview with Harper’s Bazaar Arabia. A fiery colour palette of browns, orange, bronze and shades of liquid gold blended quintessentially African and Arab design into regal garments befitting a grand affair.
