Dutch Royals Host State Banquet for Spanish King and Queen

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of The Netherlands welcomed the Spanish royalty on Wednesday

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain, were welcomed to a Grand State Banquet at the Royal Palace of Amsterdam on Wednesday, hosted by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of The Netherlands. This marked the commencement of their two-day state visit.

Elegance and Tradition

Amidst the opulence of the Royal Palace, guests were treated to a spectacle of elegance and glamour. Queen Maxima, Queen Letizia, and Crown Princess Amalia of The Netherlands graced the occasion in coordinated blue gowns, reflecting the harmonious relationship between the Royal women and their countries.

The Purpose of the Visit 

Beyond its splendour, the banquet aimed to highlight the importance of diplomatic relations between The Netherlands and Spain. The visit was instrumental in reaffirming the enduring friendship between the two monarchies, as the Royals were given a platform to discuss their shared interests, cooperation, and mutual respect for one another.

As the evening unfolded with toasts and camaraderie, King Willem- Alexander fondly recalled the beginning of his relationship with Queen Maxima in Seville, 25 years ago. The romance between the couple began at the Feria de Abril, spring fair, where they first met.

Queen Letizia reciprocated these warm sentiments by highlighting the historical connections shared between the nations, and praising Queen Maxima for her dedication and hard work.
