KSA residents, it’s time to organise your Eid Al-Fitr plans. This weekend is was announced that both public and private sector employees in Saudi Arabia are going to get four working days off this April.

On Saturday, the Kingdom’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development announced that most employees would get four days off from Monday, April 8 (Ramadan 29, 1445) to Thursday, April 11.

How many days will KSA have off for Eid al-Fitr?

As the weekend falls on Friday and Saturday in the Kingdom, Saudi residents will enjoy six consecutive days off and return to work on Sunday, April 14.

Eid Al Fitr signifies the end of Ramadan, the holy month that started on March 11. During this period, Muslims worldwide fast from dawn till dusk.

As per the Islamic lunar calendar, Ramadan falls on the ninth month, consisting of 354 or 355 days a year. Accordingly, Ramadan could be either 29 or 30 days, depending on the moon sighting. Eid Al Fitr is celebrated on the first of Shawwal, which is the Islamic month that comes after Ramadan.

In neighbouring country, the UAE, current predictions from astronomers estimate that the first day of Eid Al-Fitr is most likely going to be Wednesday, April 10. UAE residents could enjoy up to nine days off to mark the occasion.

As per the list of holidays announced by the UAE government earlier for public and private sectors, residents will get a break from Ramadan 29 till Shawwal 3 to celebrate Eid Al Fitr.
