“Emerging Voices” Kicks Off At Doha Festival City, Marking A New Fashion Fuelled Era

Held in partnership with Harper’s Bazaar Qatar, Doha’s premiere shopping destination unveiled a new series of events, centred around creativity and cultural innovation, this past weekend

Doha Festival City’s inaugural Emerging Voices series kicked off this past weekend, inviting emerging creatives and regional stars to attend a panel discussion, marking a new chapter for Qatar’s premium shopping destination.

The series of events, hosted in collaboration with VCUarts Qatar, Scale7 and Harper’s Bazaar Qatar, celebrates young talent from the region by providing them with a platform and space to showcase their work.

Bazaar Arabia cover star Nour Arida took to the stage in a panel discussion, sharing how inspired she felt by the up-and-coming creatives taking part in the Emerging Voices series.

“I am so impressed by the Qatari talent I have seen today at Emerging Voices. These young designers have produced incredible pieces of international level design and quality and fit for international markets,” she said. “My advice to emerging talent is to dream big and keep going. Never give up. There is a real fashion moment happening with Arab designers internationally and it’s great to see the designers of tomorrow here today.”

The curated showcase features fashion and editorial photography from six talented VCUarts Qatar students and will be hosted within Doha Festival City’s Luxury Court. During the event, guests had the opportunity to explore the pop-up and meet the creative minds – Haya Al Thani, Halah Mahmoud, Samah Sulyman, Fay Alsharif, Jory Al-Buainain, and Maya Yatim – behind the designs.

The Emerging Voices series will continue with a pop-up at Harvey Nichols Doha on October 22, highlighting the work of three leading talents from Scale7 – Qatar’s first fashion and design business incubator: The Project, Irreplaceable, and All Seasons. The event will include engaging in-conversation discussion with Aysha Khalifa Al Romaihi, Director of Scale7 – QDB.

“This marks the start of an exciting collaboration between Harper’s Bazaar and Doha Festival City, celebrating the next generation of fashion talent emerging from Qatar. We’re eager to continue building this community and supporting talented voices in Doha,” said Bianca Brigitte Bonomi, Director of Harper’s Bazaar Qatar.

“The launch of Emerging Voices in partnership with Doha Festival City and Harper’s Bazaar Qatar has been hugely successful. It is very meaningful for our students to showcase their designs to the community and connect with leaders in the field of fashion. We look forward to future collaborations,” said Christopher Fink, Chair of Fashion Design & Merchandising at VCUArts Qatar.

Since its inception, Doha Festival has long supported the local and regional fashion and beauty scene by hosting international brands and designers that capture the essence of the local culture.
