Fashion Trust Arabia 2022: Everything you need to know…
Designers from across the region are invited to apply for the 4th edition of the Fashion Trust Arabia (FTA) Awards. Applicants can apply in one of five categories: Ready-to-Wear, Eveningwear, Accessories, Jewellery, and the Franca Sozzani Debut Talent Award.
The ceremony itself will be taking place during the week of October 24, 2022 through a series of local activations in Doha, Qatar; Turkey has been selected as the guest country of this year’s awards.
The Advisory Board will select 24 finalists who will then get the chance to showcase their work before the FTA Jury. The 2022 Board is stacked with a list of industry powerhouses including Alexander Fury, Bryan Boy, Erdem Moralıoğlu, Gaia Repossi, and Olivier Theyskens among several other notable names.

Applicants must have MENA heritage or their business must have a foothold in the region. This nurturing of regional designers is at the crux of the FTA’s philanthropic initiative.
Since its inception in 2018, the FTA has made it its mission to support local creatives by providing them with global opportunities and by creating a network in which they can engage in an exchange of ideas. In fact, this year, in addition to the Franca Sozzani Award, which is meant for a current or newly graduated fashion student, a Guest Country Award will also be given out to a Turkish womenswear designer who is specifically based in Turkey.
The four winners will receive grant money ranging from Dhs367,000 to Dhs735,000 ($100,000 to $200,000). While the winner of the Franca Sozzani Award will get a grant of Dhs91,800 ($25,000) in addition to receiving mentorship from top industry professionals.
Moreover, all winners will be given a one-year partnership with mega online retailer Matchesfashion.com, which comes with a mentorship programme as well as the opportunity to display their collections across the MATCHESFASHIONS’s channels. Finally, all winners will also receive instruction on sustainability from Maison de Mode in order to better prepare them for the realities of the future of the industry.
