Can You Tell If Something Was Written by AI?
NFTs, but fo AI? The Minimalist is working to bring clarity to the digital ecosystem, where original sources can remain a mystery…
In this current digital landscape, information spreads like wildfire, with little to no verification about sources, evidence or intention. Once something is out there, its out there forever. Moreover, with the latest developments in AI technology, the possibilities are endless. People are able to create beautiful artistic pieces, or softwares to help daily practices, however they are also able to generate false information which could be damaging and dangerous in many different ways.
Being able to differentiate between a human creation, versus an AI creation, has become the latest challenge we are collectively facing. Therefore, an Indian company called The Minimalist came out with an idea called ‘Authenticons,’ with the idea of bringing clarity to combat the turbulent outcomes of misinformation.
How To Tell If Something Was Written by AI: What You Need To Know About Authenticons
According to the company, Authenticons are “A group of text based icons inspired by the universal language of mathematical codes that are script agnostic: <o>= Human made, ^[ =AI Generated, and ^o[ = Human + AI Collaboration.” In layman’s terms, these digital symbols highlight the origin of a piece of content by clarifying whether it was created by a human, an AI system or a hybrid of both.
With AI technology only getting more sophisticated, the lines between AI and human creation are starting to blur, raising questions about authenticity and originality. From a piece of writing, or an artwork, or even music, it is becoming extremely challenging to be able to discern if it was an actual person, or an algorithm behind a masterpiece. Therefore, Authenticons were created to act as a digital signature representing the creator of a piece. They are designed to provide crucial information about the origin of the content, making it easier to distinguish between human, and AI made.

These symbols are extremely easy to use. When posting about a piece of content, simply insert the Authenticon that applies to its origin:
<o>= Human made. This shows that your content is completely created by a person.
^o[ = Human + AI Collaboration. This one shows that there has been a collaboration between a human and an AI system or algorithm.
^[ =AI Generated. This one shows that the entire piece has been created by an AI system or algorithm.

Aunthenticons are playing an extremely important role in the promotion of transparency and trust within the digital world by providing users with clear information for them to be able to make their own informed decisions. Creating a more robust and synonymous digital ecosystem.
The simplicity of these symbols is able to combat the complexity of the internet. Taking a huge step in the direction of a more transparent and authentic e-world.
