History is about to be made this month on April 28, with Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi soon taking the steps to become the first Arab to go long-term mission to the International Space Station.

This occasion is a significant achievement for both the UAE and the region as a whole, solidifying the scientific expertise present in the Arab world.

In a recent statement, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, and President of MBRSC wrote; “Inspired by Zayed’s ambitions, today our ambassador to space astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi is preparing for the first spacewalk by an Arab astronaut on 28 April. This will make the UAE the 10th country to undertake Extravehicular Activity (EVA) on the International Space Station.”

Sultan Al Neyadi also recently received the prestigious NASA golden astronaut pin which inaugurated the Emirati astronaut into the ‘elite astronaut ranks’.

How to watch UAE Astronaut Spacewalk live

This monumental event is a definite must-watch for all residents of the Middle East, and viewers can stay up-to-date on April 28 by watching local news broadcasts as well as watching online live streams available on the Khaleej Times website, and the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre channels.

NASA will provide coverage of the live launch activities for the agency’s SpaceX Crew-6 mission, the crew arrival and more through its app, website and television channel. Additionally, the SpaceX website will also broadcast live coverage.
