How To Wear Your Watch Like A Fashion Editor This Valentine’s Day: La D de Dior Buisson Couture

La D de Dior Buisson Couture timepieces promise an abundance of romantic blooms that will enchant long after February 14th has been and gone

While ‘princess treatment’ may be a social media phenomenon that only took root in the latter half of 2025, trust this Millennial when she says that it’s a tale as old as time. And the ultimate proving ground for white knights – or ‘kings’, as the Gen Z kids tell me is the new coinage – is Valentine’s Day. My entire adult life, I expected the full fiasco. Card. Flowers. Dinner. Bigger flowers. But this year, after a major mental shift, my expectations are humbled. Now, Miley Cyrus’ 2023 hit Flowers resonates more deeply than any fairytale bursting with bluebirds ever could.

Miley’s earworm “I can buy myself flowers… Write my name in the sand… I can take myself dancing… I can hold my own hand,” spoke so directly to women worldwide that it garnered more than 2.7 billion subscription streams, reaching number one in over 40 countries. Read the headlines, and the rise of singlehood is indeed reshaping the world’s socioeconomics. So maybe it’s about time we listened, and bought the flowers ourselves.

Victoire de Castellane, Dior’s Jewellery Creative Director, has given us some fabulous blooms to choose from. Part of the majestic Les Jardins de la Couture High Jewellery collection, the La D de Dior Buisson Couture timepiece bedecks the wrist in glittering blossoms to accompany you at all times; very Disney princess indeed. The timepiece was, however, actually crafted to recall the intricately embroidered florals on the French maison’s couture gowns, and Monsieur Dior’s fervent love of flowers. Nominated for the 2025 GPHG awards – the Oscars of the watchmaking world – the timepiece showcases sensational artisanry, with each model requiring circa 480 hours of work, including more than 150 hours for the hand-setting of the 1,088 precious stones on its dial alone.

In various themed colourways, its flowers are formed of artful arrangements of diamonds, sapphires, and tsavorites that riff on rainbow hues. Every flower feels ready to pluck thanks to its meticulous setting, with gems nestled together on multiple planes to bring life-like volume to the seamless carpet of stones. Victoire has applied her green fingers at every turn; even the crown, case-back and buckle don’t go unadorned. There is one version crafted in entirely pink and red ruby tones – which screams romance from a (speed-dating) table away – but the version that speaks most seductively to me is the model that marries sunshine yellow and grass green posies with pale and punchy pink petals. It doesn’t shout of all consuming passion, but rather celebrates coloured stones that speak to hope, optimism, joy and rebirth.

While it might not match a cookie-cutter, crimson-from-head-to-toe Valentine’s Day date outfit, it will add a romantic flourish to an ensemble based on subtler nods to romance – think burgundy, wine, and smouldering amber tones. Don’t feel like you must force yourself into a body-con sheath dress; for an easy-going outfit that allows you to feel like yourself, turn to Prada’s chic claret jacket, suede Miu Miu sneakers and Balenciaga’s insouciant Rodeo bag. Keep the look light with saccharine accessories such as Dior’s pastel pink sunglasses, and continue the floral theme with gilt jewels by Van Cleef & Arpels or Valentino.

So whether you’re swooning over the love of your life on February 14th, or simply using kinder words to yourself, invest in a timepiece to remind you to cherish each and every moment. In the words of Leonard Cohen, “We are so lightly here. It is in love that we are made. In love we disappear.”
